Dear Counselors and Teachers
By now, all of you have begun receiving your pay warrants with our new 2.5% raise, and should have received your retro check. I would like to take this time to publicly thank our VVTA Negotiations Team for ALL their hard work. Our team consisted of Mike Mayo - Lead Negotiator, Otilia Vargascorona, Reed Bartlett, Jared Nichols, Jennifer Lovelace, and Dr. John Beyer - retired. These individuals worked diligently for almost 18 months, over the course of close to 20 bargaining sessions, giving up time with their students and families. Having been a member of previous negotiating teams, I know the work and commitment required to address the needs of over 400 members. Won't you please take a moment and thank them for their hard work?
Soon we will be returning to the table with the District. Your Organizing Team will be putting out a survey asking for your opinions and desires for negotiations. Be thoughtful in your responses. We read every one of them. Please remember, when negotiating, majority rules and the team will be addressing issues about which the majority of teachers are concerned.
I would also like to thank the District for guaranteeing our Sept 1 pay warrant included the 2.5% raise. I would also like to thank them for completing the large amount of work required to guarantee your retro compensation on Oct 1. If you notice any discrepancies, please contact your fiscal representative. And take a moment to thank them for their hard work.
